We planned an evening flight in hopes that Alice would fall asleep, but--as most parents know--that didn't happen. Not even close. I planned her nap and everything thinking that surely she would be tired at 8:30/9:00pm, but nope. She was wide awake the whole time! Our flight was even delayed an hour and she was just laughing and running around the airport as happy as could be. Then it was time for the flight and we warned everyone around us that this was her first time flying so we apologized in advance for any screaming tantrums or crying. But...she surprised us all and did amazing! We brought snacks, milk, books, etc. but her favorite thing was her little portable DVD player (thanks to Clayton's parents). She sat and watched Dora for about 45 mins without making a peep...until they turned on the "turn off all electronic devices" light. Then...she flipped. But, was easily distracted by the couple behind us who played "peek-a-boo" with her. So, thanks to the strangers in row 25! Then we took a cab at 11:00 at night to the city where we were reunited with our great friends! She wasn't asleep until midnight, but she was a trooper and she didn't let that mess up her vacay! :)
Our vacation was awesome! I've been to New York a handful of times in my life, and of course I always have the best time, but this time we didn't have anything we had to do so it was nice. We went to a couple of museums, went to a couple of toy stores, ate at a lot of good and still were able to nap some while Alice napped. It was so much fun and we hated to leave, but we were so glad to be able to take Alice to visit! We will definitely be back soon. We love New York!
Then this past weekend we had Addy over to spend the night for two nights, which Alice loved. She has so much fun playing with her cousin! It has been a rainy few days so we made homemade play dough (which of course I found on Pinterest), made homemade frozen yogurt in our new ice cream maker, and they made a mess playing with all of Alice's new (and some old) toys from Christmas! They had a blast playing with the cupcake kitchen! Then Alice had her new friend, Charlie's, birthday party on Saturday at Creating Artists for Tomorrow. She had such a fun time drawing, painting, and especially making a mess in the shaving cream art. If any of my Greenville parent friends are looking for something different to do with their kids (of any age) then I suggest you check that place out! It is so neat and kids love it!
So then on Sunday I went with my mom to a movie and just hung out with my parents, Alice, and Addy all day until Clayton was off of work. So we had a pretty fun past two weeks and I'm excited about the next few weekends because we have some fun things coming up! I'll leave you with some fun pics of Miss A!
After her first flight, we finally arrived at Kat and Jerry's apartment in New York!
One of the many excellent pictures that Jerry (aka, "Jerjy", as Alice calls him) took of Al.
At the Jim Henson Museum...of course Alice loved these guys!
Homemade Play Dough...messy, but fun!
Two princesses playing with their kitchen...they loved it.
Painting a pretty picture at Charlie's party!
Shaving Cream art!
Digging for dinosaurs with Charlie!
