We are super excited that Alice is going to be a big sister!! We found out on July 28, and have been keeping shush about it until around the 12 week mark.
I am writing this post on August 22, 2012, but it won't be posted for a few more weeks for the obvious reason. I'm definitely one of those people that likes to wait until we are in the clear to announce baby news to everyone. Up until now only our parents, grandparents, siblings, and a few good friends knew the news (which may seem like a lot of people, but we also like to have prayer support from our family and close friends). Unfortunately we have lost two pregnancies (one before Alice and one after) so we like to make sure there's no bad news (hopefully) after sharing good news with everybody! But so far so good. I had my hormone levels checked at 4 weeks and they started at 1100 and went up to 2200 which was really good to only be 4 weeks! Then we had an ultrasound at 6 weeks to make sure baby was in the right place to rule out an ectopic pregnancy (which is what I had with our third pregnancy), and had a healthy heart beat, which it did! We were so relieved and excited to see that little lima bean/cocoon looking baby on the screen. So now I'm 7 weeks along and doing pretty well. I have the typical symptoms: nausea, headaches, a little fatigue, food aversions, etc. but I wouldn't trade it for anything as it means that sweet little baby we have been praying for is growing growing! :)
Alice knows about the baby and seems so excited. I know she doesn't really get it, but it's cute to see her stop to rub my belly and say "Hey little baby". Haha. I have no doubt she'll be a great big sis!
My biggest food aversion is......coffee :-/ I love love LOVE coffee usually but nowadays I can't even stand the smell. I'm hoping this one will pass. Another weird thing is our toothpaste. I had just bought a new kind of toothpaste, and I hate the smell of it. So for now I use a different kind than my husband. I also gag at the thought of having to drink water (which is usually all I drink...along with coffee :) and the occasional sweet tea). But I add a lot of lemon to give it some flavor. I have a few other aversions, but no cravings yet. So far I haven't gained any weight. I'm determined not to go overboard like I did with Alice. I've been walking everyday. Even if it's the last thing I want to do, I still do something for at least 15 minutes a day, but I shoot for 30.
Anyway, we are super excited and are continuing to pray for a healthy baby boy or girl! :) Here are a few pics of Baby news! The pic of me is right after I found out, and the ultrasound is at 6 weeks, and the pregnancy test is self-explanatory ;)
